James Gatz

Jay Gatsby, the man who many of you knew as a great man, quiet friend, and perfect host. However, few know the man who truly lies here. James Gatz was indeed a man even greater than he who you know. His ambition led him to the persona of "Gatsby", who was a man of great vitality and love of life. Gatz also experienced love; love and selflessness that few experience in their lifetimes. In fact, his love was his life. His whole life, Gatz was a man who loved Daisy Buchanan and it would be true if one said that his life was, in all its totality dedicated to her. James and Daisy were in love prior to his departure to Europe for war, and his love and the dream of her never left him. When he returned from the war Gatz maintained a large estate and house hosting parties open to all, in hopes of the miraculous chance that Daisy would appear and he could profess his feelings for her. Unfortuantely, upon his return to the states, the love of his life had succumb to time and married another. Even though he tried to win her back, time and destiny were still against him, and he took his love, and thus his life, to the grave. Jay Gatsby will be forgotten, but James Gatz will live on in the hearts he touched, forever.
